God’s Workshop

God’s Workshop

Introduction

God is in the details, and He has equipped us with so much more than we could ever know we possess. Jesus promised us:

“Truly, truly I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”

John 14:12

Jesus has the heart and ability to find the least likely candidates for a baptism of love and the Holy Spirit, and just opens the windows of heaven over them. He doesn’t care how messy we are. He called Matthew and the Pharisees had a fit.

And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:10-13

Then there was Zaccheus, then a promiscuous woman about to be stoned, and also a Samaritan adulteress… and let’s not forget the twelve, all of whom had their own issues and stuff going on.

Yet, Jesus only saw the treasure they carried. He saw the hearts of people and called them up to walk in it! Look at how He saw it in Nathanael!

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

John 1:44-51

Jesus calls each of us and equips us to be a solid piece of equipment for service to the Kingdom.

Today, let’s think about what He sees in each of us. What is God equipping you for? What hidden gifts are incubating inside you?

Holy Spirit Gifts

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

1 Corinthians 12:7–11.

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function… Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Romans 12:4 – 8.

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:27–28

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Ephesians 4:11-16

… one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:14–21

The Equipment

The Keys (Greens)

The keys represent the revelators, the equippers, the trainers, the disciplers, and the imparters that equip the body for service and reveal the secrets/revelation of the Kingdom.

In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

Isaiah 22:20-22

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 16: 18-19

Keys are used to pass the baton and guide those God is raising up, uncovering the unlimited resources available to the Kingdom. The keys unlock and disclose the road ahead. They will clear the debris of old religious mindsets, will champion truth, and will raise up the army of God.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Helps, Interpretation, Knowledge

The Hammers (Reds)

Hammers are refitters, repairing and restoring the areas of the Church from the inside out. They challenge and confront stale forms and systems that bear no fruit.

Hammers move against cultural and religious norms and don’t belong to a particular denomination. They have the language and scope to clearly state scriptural intention, remove outdated traditions, and clear the path to unity, connection and creativity.

These people carry a deep knowledge of Kingdom infrastructure and work alongside apostles to build and grow through new strategies. They don’t fault find, but they carry a divine blueprint for how to break out of areas of stagnation.

Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. Your restoration is what we pray for. For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.

2 Corinthians 13: 5-10

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Administrating, Leadership, Wisdom, Apostles, Elders/Pastors, Service

Apostle (ἀπόστολος, apostolos). Someone, or something, sent. Derived from the verb “to send out” (ἀποστέλλειν, apostellein). In the New Testament, usually refers to someone sent as an authorized agent by Jesus or the Christian community (Matt 10:22 Cor 8:23Heb 3:1).

The Pens (Whites)

These equippers serve as scribes, songwriters, psalmists, authors, policy writers… those who carry the Word through their creative or administrative gift. Those who carry this gift will light up the word of God and draw the world to Jesus through their anointed words.

God will place a new song in His people, a new understanding in their hearts and the pens will bring an awareness to the new thing God is doing.

My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the King; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

Psalm 45:1

This is an historical season for the Body of Christ and God is raising up prophetic pens to be messengers in His hand and articulate His heart.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Teaching, Evangelism, Discernment of Spirits, Apostles, Leadership

The Bells (Oranges)

Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand.

Joel 2:1

God is equipping bell ringers to call the Body to worship and prayer, but more importantly to justice and liberty. The bells ring out the sound of freedom and peace to administer truth and justice. They are truth seekers and truth speakers.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

John 16:13

The church must pay attention to the bells as they are the ones hearing and speaking the instructions of the Spirit.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Apostles, Generosity, Faith, Service, Encouragement / Exhortation

Timepieces (Blues)

And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.

Genesis 1:14-15

God intended for humanity to pay attention to the times.  In King David’s day, we still knew this.  When David built his army, he specifically included such men:

from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;

1 Chronicles 12: 32

The name Issachar means: there is recompense.

Timepieces see the promise on the other side of the wilderness and speak of restoration in the midst of calamity.  They are the reconcilers.

God’s timepieces are a bit different from ours… the hands on the clock go backwards and forwards in unpredictable ways. These gifted timepieces sense the changes and shifts in God’s epoch cycles and are able to predict when God is moving. Timekeepers see beyond what is currently happening and provide a roadmap through blind or unknown periods.  They connect the dots for those who are lost.

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5: 15-17

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Healing, Reconciliation, Shepherds (away from being lost), Service, Mercy, Leadership

The Telescopes (Purples)

The telescopes are God’s prophets for the present day. Telescopes have foresight and long vision. They have the ability to foretell for the sake of warning and

guiding the Body of Christ. These eyes will be shown specific plots and plans of the enemy so they can be dismantled before they cause harm. They lead the people in praying into and breaking demonic assignments. Telescopes are able to uncover that which is hidden and are willing to say the hard things that we may not want to hear, yet need to know.

And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is for the king of Israel?” And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

2 Kings 6: 11-12

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

1 Corinthians 13:12

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Prophesy, Discernment of Spirits, Faith

Lightning Rods (Yellows)

Lightning Rods stay at a high altitude and perceive what others cannot. They are capable of taking a strike and recovering.  These people conduct God’s power and glory, transporting the church from one era to the next… from glory to glory.

Their role is to transfer back the power and the rights and ownership of many stolen and usurped regions. They will conduct God’s power shorting out the systems of the world and taking back territory from long standing principalities.

The lightning rods operate in gifts of healing when sickness and disease is caused by spiritual warfare. They will return authority, break legal rights and restore things back to God’s will.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?

1 Corinthians 4: 20-21

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Generosity, Healing, Discernment of Spirits, Wisdom
